Ms. Margi Patel, Environmental Engineer and Regional Officer at the Gujarat Pollution Control Board, spoke on World Environment Day about India’s environmental policy landscape and Vadodara’s own challenges. She noted that India often imports SOPs unsuited to local realities, and outlined the country’s core environmental laws: the Water Act (1974), the Air Act (1981), and the Environment (Protection) Act (1986), along with rules on batteries, construction waste, plastics, and e-waste.
